First of Its Kind “Sibling Class” Launches as part of Childbirth Education

Boston Baby Beginnings to Welcome Toddlers

As seen in the bump

Boston Baby Beginnings, the sole in-hospital childbirth education provider for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, is launching a new “Sibling Class” on April 30, 2011 exclusively designed to include children ofallages
(1-7+).
Children will learn what to expect during their mothers’ hospital stay, what a new babylooks like, and how a new baby behaves through engaging activities.

Typical sibling classes offered in the Boston area focus on acclimating children three-years-old and older—not toddlers—to the idea of being a big brother of sister. Raeanne Brazee, founder of Boston Baby Beginnings, has seen first-hand both personally and professionally the need to guide and prepare even very young children for what can be a tough transition emotionally.

The Sibling Class, designed by Brazee, an obstetrical nurse and parent educator, offers knowledge based on years of professional, hands-on experience helping parents and young children navigate challenges that come with bringing a new baby into the house.Amanda Carman, founder of Excited 2 Learn, contributed to creating the class’ unique, interactive curriculum ensuringactivities can be modified to apply to each child’s age.

Boston Baby Beginnings is the exclusive in-hospital childbirth educator of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Each class is instructed by a registered nurse with an extensive background in obstetrics.
